Why Expectations Make-or-Break Driver Retention

In our first episode of 2019, Kelly and Tim hear from three different drivers about why they have left, or are leaving, their companies. All three drivers voice “broken expectations” as their #1 reason for leaving.

A frequent caller, “NuttyButty”, clarifies that high pay will only go so far. Broken promises and unclear expectations easily ruin the satisfaction of a solid paycheck. Drivers are much more likely to stay with their current carriers if they know what is expected of them.

KJ Tip: Companies should sit down with new drivers and schedule regular check-ins with current drivers to discuss upcoming expectations.
